We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Highly motivated Nurse Practitioner with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team in a state of art Emergency Department. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care.
The Emergency Department has a tertiary trauma facility and has greater than 60,000 patients present annually. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within the Emergency Department. The role includes
- Focused assessment and management of patients using advanced knowledge and skills which may include but not limited to ordering diagnostic investigations, prescribing medicines and direct referrals to other health practitioners.
- Is grounded in the nursing professions values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care that compliments other health providers. The scope of practice is determined by the context within which the Nurse Practitioner is authorized the practice.
- Provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice utilizing research in the provision and development of educational programs, clinical services planning and development of clinical practice standards.
- Is regarded as a senior nursing clinician and resource person for the service and works closely with clinicians and management in the provision of care
- Manages and cares for patients, families and significant others through utilizing models of care that are appropriate, timely and of a high quality which are governed by authorized guidelines/polices.

Selection Criteria
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
- Currently registered as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency (APHRA) and endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to practice as a Nurse Practitioner [or undertaking study that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner by the NMBA].
- Demonstrated operational, financial, human resource, workplace health and safety and effective communication / interpersonal skills experience at departmental level and comprehensive understanding of clinical governance and current nursing issues
- Ability to deliver, evidenced based, patient centered care within a complex environment and work under a scope of practice
- Demonstrated experience in quality improvement principles, clinical policy and procedure development and implementation
- Computer literacy in MS Word/Excel, Email and an electronic medical record / referral system
- Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice
- Demonstrated high level leadership within the workplace and across external agencies including the ability to form productive working relationships through highly developed communication, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
