About the role
The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care. The Nursing Unit Manager leads nursing staff, ensures effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environmental and work, health and safety management of the unit.
Clinician engagement and leadership has been a prominent feature of the public health system for a number of years, where clinician led clinical standards, safety and quality improvements have become a major focus. The Local Health District (LHD) is committed to the strengthening and ongoing involvement and clinician engagement of staff that provide direct patient care in the planning, delivery, improvement and evaluation of health services.
If you have:

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and a post graduate qualification in leadership/management
• Demonstrated motivational, leadership, interpersonal and high level communication skills with demonstrable highly developed coaching, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a nursing team within a complex multidisciplinary team environment
• Understanding of, and commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of clinicians in the decision making process that impacts on positive patient outcomes
