About our Mental Health service
Brunswick Private Hospital offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient (day) programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of Mental Health conditions. Initial focus on program delivery will include; general anxiety, depression, mood disorders, older person psychiatry, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD).
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health nurses looking for that next step into a senior leadership role. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Mental Health clinician with demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary team. As part of the leadership team, the successful applicant will play an important role in leading and supporting service-wide developments and creating a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the Mental Health team by supporting the effective co-ordination of resources in order to achieve optimal service delivery
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of contemporary best practice nursing care and care delivery models in Mental Health
- Identifies customer and patient service improvements using data to identify internal processes and systems that directly impact patient care
- Develops and implements solutions to ensure patient and customer satisfaction.
- Uses effective methods to monitor employee performance and accurately establishes employees currently levels of capability and proficiency.
- Collaboratively works with employees to set meaningful development and career plans, and identifies the required learning opportunities, education and support needed to achieve goals
- Role models Aurora values and behaviours and actively promotes these to team members, holding them accountable for their actions.
- Creates a quality, safety and risk culture and holds employees accountable.
- Provide leadership and participation in relevant service committees and working groups
- Identifies and establishes relationships with key partners, other departments and stakeholders to clarify expectations, and collaboratively agrees on roles and responsibilities of the partnership to meet goals.
- Participate in development and implementation of the Mental Health strategic plan
- Identify service development issues, service development plans and following consultation, lead the implementation of quality projects
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Hold a current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Qualified Mental Health Nurse
- Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership role
- Ability to manage budgeting and KPI targets
- Experience with the National Safety and Quality Standards and the implementation of these
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability working collaboratively in a team environment
- Awareness and practice of legislation affecting nursing practice and health care

- Strong focus on evidence based nursing care
- Demonstrated high standards of professional and ethical practice
- Focus on improvement and ongoing professional development
- Promotes safety, security and personal integrity in the workplace
