The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of two adult Major Trauma Services for the state of Victoria, caring for up to 80 per cent of the state’s most severely injured patients every year.
This role leads the emergency general surgery ward. This ward has a great relationship with our ED and peri operative teams as the work focuses on treatment of patients with non-elective surgical issues of the GI system e.g., appendicitis, bowel obstructions, cholelithiasis and boasts a stable nursing workforce with great staff retention and professional development.
The nursing team in 3 South work as a team with our wider multi-disciplinary colleagues with highly experienced allied health, clinical pharmacists, medical staff and clinical nurse consultants to provide high quality patient care.

Your new role:
- Lead a team of nurses to provide world-class care to people who need it most

- Provide operational oversight of workforce, financial and quality key performance indicators
- Be supported by strong nurse leaders
- You have experience managing an acute surgical ward with a collaborative working style
- You have effective communication skills and a passion for achieving the best for your team
- You are an AHPRA Registered Nurse with 5 years acute clinical experience
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications or currently studying in a post-graduate capacity
