Overview
The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia. We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service.
Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.
The Division of Surgical Services coordinates and manages support to the surgical departments and units of the WCH. The hospital is the main referral centre for complex paediatric surgical conditions, for South Australia, the Northern Territory and some regional centres in Eastern Victoria and Eastern New South Wales and supports a clinical and basic science research and teaching program.

The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Surgical Services Division as Nursing Director on a permanent contract, working in a full-time capacity.
As the Nursing Director, you will;
Lead the evaluation of current services models and through clinical and consumer engagement develop and implement processes.
Work with Nursing Directors, Nurse Consultants, Nurse Practitioners and Level 3 Nurses/Midwives to develop and embed a learning, safety, and quality improvement culture.
Develop, and encourage a learning environment by mentoring and promoting team development and individual capacity building.
Integrate contemporary information and research evidence with personal knowledge and experience to support high level decision making and the development of best practice services.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have;
Registration or eligibility for registration as a Nurse/Midwife, Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
At least 5 years post registration experience.
Experience as a leader or manager in the health care industry.
Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity which can be applied to the hospital setting, particularly regarding the provision of nursing/midwifery services.
