The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care. The Nursing Unit Manager leads nursing staff, ensures effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environmental and work, health and safety management of the unit.
Clinician engagement and leadership has been a prominent feature of the public health system for a number of years, where clinician led clinical standards, safety and quality improvements have become a major focus. The Local Health District (LHD) is committed to the strengthening and ongoing involvement and clinician engagement of staff that provide direct patient care in the planning, delivery, improvement and evaluation of health services.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and post graduate qualification in the area of alcohol and other drugs and/or leadership/management OR demonstrated leadership/management professional development
- Knowledge and understanding of evidence based practice and person centred care including Trauma Informed Care and Recovery principles in the care of people with alcohol and other drug use issues
- Demonstrated motivational, leadership, interpersonal and high level communication and conflict resolution skills
- Understanding of, and commitment to the effective and meaningful engagement of clinicians in the decision making process that impacts on positive patient outcomes
