ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Seniors and Disability Services is responsible in providing quality direct services to customers to maintain overall wellbeing and independence. The team seeks to promote social inclusion, encourage and enhance quality of life and increase capacity for seniors and people with disabilities to participate in the community. 

We have an exciting opportunity within Seniors and Disability Services for a Nutrition Services Customer Liaison Officer to assist in managing, developing and improving home delivered meals and centre-based meals programs for the frail aged, people with a disability and their carers to ensure the provision of services is provided to the relevant legislative standards. You will be responsible in undertaking day to day support and supervision of volunteers whilst developing and implementing promotional plans for new and existing programs. 

The successful applicant will require:

  •   Tertiary qualifications in welfare, community/food services or related, and/or equivalent relevant experience
  •   Class C drivers licence
  •   First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  •   Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or willingness to obtain
  •   NDIS Worker Screening Check
  •   Demonstrated level of experience in:
    • Budgeting
    • Recruitment, development and supervision of staff and volunteers
    • Community program development, planning and evaluation
    • Meeting procedures
    • PC application software programs
  •  Highly developed organisational skills including excellent time management and ability to multitask and manage competing priorities under pressure
  •  Ability to relate to seniors, younger people with disabilities and their carers and an awareness of an sensitivity to the needs of these groups
  •  A solid understanding of the Community Home Support Program (CHSP), National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), networks, funding bodies, foodsafety regulations, and the needs of the aged, people with disabilities and their carers.

Position information: This is a term contract, full-time position until 30 June 2024 with possibility of extension, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement. 

This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands Community Centre, with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,410.79 to $1,622.40 per week, plus 11% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
  • A leaseback vehicle is available
