Occupational Therapist Level 1/2
ArmidaleAbout the position:
This unique opportunity will involve the provision of service in both community mental health clinical practice with some consultation / in-reach role for the local mental health inpatient unit.

The position will be predominantly based in the community immersing you in a multidisciplinary team (consisting of Social Workers, Psychologists, Registered Nurses, and Medical staff) and working closely with GPs and Community Managed Organisations to provide collaborative care and support to individual and group clients. In this role, you will undertake mental health assessments, functional, and psychosocial assessments and facilitate care coordination including centre-based appointments, community, and home visits.

You (and your allied health colleagues) will also provide an in-reach service to the Clark Centre, a voluntary, short-stay, eight-bed unit located in Armidale. This will provide you with an opportunity to provide discipline specific consultation for the treating team and to utilise your unique skills in undertaking
functional assessments, working with the team to develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic activities/groups, and supporting discharge planning.

About You:
You are an Occupational Therapist with a dedication to enhancing the function and recovery journey of consumers, through the application of your unique Occupational Therapy skillset. With an interest or experience in Mental Health, you are looking for an opportunity to build your skills as part of a supportive team, either as a new graduate or an early career Occupational Therapist. Alternatively, you may be an experienced Occupational Therapist seeking a tree change and a position where you can step into a familiar role and confidently apply your well-honed clinical skills. Either way, you will have strong
communication, time management, and relationship-building skills.

Where you'll be working:
The role is integral to the Tablelands Mental Health Service which is made up of a multidisciplinary team that provides specialist mental health services to those experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues. The position is based in Armidale which is set high on the beautiful Northern Tablelands and is known for its beautiful tree-lined streets and magnificent autumn colours.

Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme

This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:  

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $5,000  

  • Retention incentive of up to $5,000 thereafter annually 

  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation) 

 *All payments and reimbursements made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis. 

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**:    

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year) 

  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year) 

  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs) 

  • Return airfare to and from your work base (or equivalent motor vehicle allowance) so you can still visit family and friends 

 **The total value of your incentive package would remain the same. Employees are responsible for seeking independent financial advice before accepting an Attraction and Retention Incentive package as part of their offer.

Information for Applicants:
