About You:

We are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team, with the shared purpose of making a difference in the lives of older people.

You will be passionate about working with older people who are experiencing challenges in Mental Health and well-being, including people living with dementia. You will align with our commitment to deliver compassionate person and family-centred care, built on values of dignity and respect. You will fully appreciate placing older people at the centre of care, championing their voice, and supporting their autonomy and recovery. 

About the Role:

The Older Persons Mental Health Service is a multidisciplinary service that consists of acute inpatient beds at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Community Teams and Northgate House.  You will be ready to be part of nurturing the NALHN OPMHS growth culture, built around developing a values-based workforce, facilitating excellence in care, and providing transparent accountability. You will work in partnership with the other team members within an aspirational organisational change process. The incumbent will be accountable to the NUM of Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) Northgate Teams.  

Occupational Therapy Northgate:

The Occupational Therapy role at Northgate House incorporates discipline-specific assessment, individualised support for complex behaviours and supporting consumer meaningful occupation. Occupational Therapy aims to work alongside nursing and leisure and lifestyle staff to create individualised programs of support that are consumer-focused and based on individual preferences and sensory needs. 

Occupational Therapy also leads in the Meaningful Occupation program provided within Northgate House. Occupational Therapy explores ways to offer activities and consider activity modification to support success and participation in the identified activities.

To be eligible for this position, you must:

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
