Job description

Join the team at Valley Locksmiths & Security in the position of part time Bookkeeper and Administration Assistant. 

Valley Locksmiths & Security is a family-owned business and has been operating for the last 30 years. Located in the picturesque Barossa Valley, we service the Barossa and Clare regions and are the go-to for all locksmithing and electronic security needs. 

We are seeking a Bookkeeper and administration officer to fill a part time role of 3 days/22.8 hours per week to commence with flexible starting & finishing hours. 

Reporting to the director, you will be responsible for:

  • Weekly processing of payroll, including STP, monthly payment of Superannuation, and bi-monthly processing of Portable Long Service Leave
  • End to End Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Receivable, including following up overdue accounts
  • Monthly bank reconciliations
  • Processing cash payments and banking when required
  • Maintaining petty cash & reimbursing monthly when required
  • Reconciling Client Aged Balance figures and ensuring they agree with the accounting package (xero)
  • General office administration, such as purchasing office supplies, uniforms, etc. 

You may be required to assist in the provision of face-to-face customer service as back-up when required. 

To be successful in this role, you will ideally meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar solo, all-rounder, finance/administration position
  • Cert III in Accounting or Business Administration will be highly regarded, or working towards
  • Computer savvy with experience in MS Office Suite and financial management systems, e.g. Xero, including extracting data for management reports
  • proven experience accurately processing payroll and associated statutory requirements
  • self-motivated with ample determination, patience, with a keen eye for detail and effective problem-solving skills
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • calm disposition that portrays as approachable for customers and employees
  • Willingness to learn and maintain current knowledge of relevant industries and administration/accounting practices
