Officer Libraries (Emerging Technologies)

What we are looking for:
This position is responsible for providing and promoting library services to the community, with a particular focus on digital and Emerging Technologies to deliver a high quality, customer focused service and library programming and events that are responsive to community needs.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science, or equivalent discipline.
- Experience in Library Management Systems, RFID, and public Wi-Fi services.
- Ability to provide systems related support and troubleshooting for public access PCs and devices.
- Experience in planning and implementation of emerging technology platforms.
- Knowledge of modern library practices and operations.
- Knowledge of Makerspace and STEAM educational programs.
- Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to develop and deliver library programs and conduct training sessions for community and school groups.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence or above that is current and maintained.
- Working with Children Check – Blue Card (or eligible to obtain a Blue Card).
Essential Requirements:
- Provide support and assistance with the maintenance and management of library systems including but not limited to: Library Management System, RFID, public Wi-Fi, and systems related provision of public access PCs and devices.
- Actively participate in strategic planning for a technologically innovative library service.
- Assist in the development of tools, equipment, material and software in the Makerspace; offer clients and library staff instruction and training on Makerspace resources including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC and vinyl cutting, sewing, electronics, green screen and sound booth technologies; develop and maintain product knowledge, regarding tools, equipment, material and software for specific projects in order to meet the needs of clients in the Makerspace.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate library programs to fulfil the community’s needs including children’s activities, technology sessions and community workshops.
- In consultation with senior library staff ensure the library is a dynamic and integral part of the community by promoting library services, providing outreach programs and liaising with community, educational organisations and council officers to develop mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Ensure that the community receives a positive customer service experience at our libraries providing operational support to the library’s service desk team as rostered and undertake all related duties in accordance with Policy, Guidelines and Work Instructions.
- Participate in reviews of library processes and procedures to ensure a continuous improvement focus on customer service.
Desirable Requirements:
- Training and assessment qualifications.
- Knowledge of the development of the First 5 Forever program including the ability to deliver storytime sessions to library clients.
