About the role:
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced OHS Advisor to join our growing and evolving organisation on a part time ongoing position, 3 days per week based in Head Office, Clayton.
Qualification, Skills and Experiences:
- Cert IV in OHS or higher essential
- Cert IV Training and assessment or Training and Education (TAE) desired but not essential
- Working knowledge of State OHS Victoria Legislation
- Demonstrated negotiation, consultation and influencing skills with senior management.
- Demonstrated workforce engagement and credibility skills.
- Computer literate and competent in use of the MS suite of software is highly essential
- High level of effectiveness in team situations under the pressure of multiple deadlines
- Self-motivated and efficient when working independently of others
- Provides creative solutions to complex problems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- promote a safety first culture and proactively support employees to eliminate risk and prevent harm
- develop capability and mindsets to improve OHS outcomes
- conduct assessments to identify and implement risk mitigation solutions
- conduct investigation to include immediate control measures within 24 hours of incident, and further in-depth and timely route-cause analysis with a focus on creating sustainable change
- provide support and guidance to managers in creating a safety culture and mitigating risk, proactively improving OHS performance
- provide accurate and timely advice to employees on regulatory requirements, best practice and risk mitigation strategies
- ensure the annual OHS Plan activities are managed in accordance with OHS Compliance on a monthly basis
- coach and mentor HSR's and safety committee members
- communicate effectively and take a team-based approach to deliver solutions that have a positive impact on the broader success of the business
- assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of OHS projects in accordance with the overall OHS strategy plan
- assist with crisis management and emergency management including evacuation drills and Business Continuity plans
