The Risk and Safety Branch is seeking a Senior OHS Advisor to make a positive contribution to the working life of Yarra City Council employees.
You will be responsible for providing senior level strategic and operational expertise and advice on compliance with City of Yarra’s OHS Management System, develop strategies and assist management to manage work and personal injuries. This position is also required to provide advice and manage processes for injury prevention, identifying reasonable adjustments, work related and personal injuries.
The Risk and Safety Branch forms part of the Corporate Services and Transformation Division and contributes directly to the achievement of organisational goals. As a member of the branch the incumbent is required to pursue branch, divisional and corporate goals through effective teamwork within the organisation. Establishing sound working relationships with a range of internal and external parties, and developing sound policies, procedures, solutions and interventions is also required.
The major objectives of the position are to:
- Provide guidance, advice and support to managers in regard to the provision of their OHS responsibilities and the achievement of Council’s organisational objectives.
- Develop, plan and implement OHS projects to enable the effective management of operational risks.
- Consult, advise and guide managers and staff on a broad range of health and safety matters.
- Work collaboratively to implement effective prevention and management practices.
- Share the accountability for work environments and practices within the Division(s) and business areas within their portfolio.
- Proactively detect any unsafe or unhealthy conditions or behaviours and take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to health safety & wellbeing arising from any activity and/or service Council provides.
