Open Space Program Manager
About the team
The Open Space Asset Management and Planning business unit is a newly formed team that are responsible for some of the City’s most treasured lifestyle assets and spaces. The team is passionate about providing high quality Open Space areas that are a key driver for the City’s liveability and success. The team is made up of experts from different fields from Landscape Architecture, Coastal and Civil Engineering, Town Planning, Arboriculture and Horticulture and Asset management.
About your new role
This role provides an opportunity to work collaboratively on a broad range of programs and projects across the business unit to help build and enhance the Gold Coast Open Spaces.
You will be responsible for the governance, program management and quality assurance for all of the tactical and strategic programs that are delivered by the Open Space Planning and Asset Management business unit. You will have experience in managing or have a passion for parks, beaches, waterways and Open Spaces and you will be able to apply that skill and knowledge in a way that advances the Open Space estate on the Gold Coast.
You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external and prepare and present reports to committees and Council. A key priority for this role is to develop program management governance and reporting to ensure the 300+ capital and operational projects and circa $250 million dollars’ worth of operational and capital expenditure is planned and delivered each year in accordance with the organisation’s priorities. Other work will include providing high quality specialist advice pertaining to City projects and managing business improvement projects that seek to advance the business units critical outcomes.

We're looking for people who have:
- A Bachelor Degree of Business Administration or equivalent knowledge
- A Bachelor Degree of Public Administration or equivalent knowledge
- A Bachelor Degree of Asset Management or equivalent knowledge
- Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including mediation, negotiation, consultation and conflict resolution.
- Extensive financial management skills and budget preparation
- An ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise in a planning environment.
- A natural affinity for problem solving, critical thinking and proactive in gathering information, analysing data and identifying suitable solutions.
- An ability to manage a high-performing team and foster good relationships between team members.
- Strong skills in planning and organising others to ensure the timely completion of tasks
