Role Overview: As a Market Operations Analyst, you will play a crucial role in the Operations Control Centre, responsible for the real-time control, monitoring, and performance analysis of their generation fleet. You'll receive comprehensive training to understand the intricacies of the National Energy Market rules, operational requirements, and trading dynamics. This role offers a direct career path to become a Spot Trader and Operator in our 24/7 control room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support traders in optimizing generation against price in the energy market.
- Monitor assets using SCADA, meteorological, and electricity market systems.
- Analyze issues impacting plant availability and propose changes to improve asset performance.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure efficient and reliable operation of our generation assets.
- Report on energy market trends and provide insights to drive business decisions.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Confident in analyzing large datasets, generating insights, and preparing reports.
- Quick decision-making skills focused on optimization and capturing opportunities.
- Familiarity with trading systems and market data analysis is advantageous.
- Qualification in Commerce, Engineering, or Science.
- Knowledge of the National Energy Market is desirable but not essential.
