Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville. Cannington mine provides on-site accommodation including meal services, as well as sporting and gym facilities.What South32 Offers:Annual short-term incentive bonus that recognises both your individual performance and the overall success of the businessDiscounted rates on travel, healthcare, and technology productsEducation assistance up to $8000 per yearThe opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plansAbout the roleThis role is a permanent 8:6 dayshift roster, FIFO from Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, or DIDO Mt Isa.Cannington Mine seeks applications for Operations Engineers to deliver accurate and effective short-term schedules and designs in alignment with the monthly plan to meet business targets.Other key role responsibilities include but aren't limited to:Deliver safe, timely and effective designs and schedules for Underground Operators to execute.Implement short-term schedules and design improvement projects and provide input into longer-term projects.Interpret complex designs, communicating and providing guidance to operational teams.Identify and facilitate design risk assessments.About You:Previous experience working in an Underground Mining Environment with graduate crew time completed.Demonstrated knowledge of the scheduling process for underground operations.Proactive in identifying and resolving problems and/or improvement opportunities.The ability to work unsupervised, find solutions independently, and collaborate with others in a team setting.Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and managers.Qualifications for this position are:Tertiary qualification in Mining EngineeringIn the absence of a formal qualification, significant experience in an Underground Mining Operation and Environment is essentialSouth32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
