1816 Bakehouse - Operations Manager

Role
You will run the day-to-day operations across the business to drive continuous improvement across production, safety, quality, compliance, sales, and staff management. This role will have an overseeing responsibility for purchasing, and inventory, and the staff involved in these roles will report to you.
The Operations Manager role is mainly to implement the right processes and practices across the organization.
The specific duties of an Operations Manager include formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring material and resources and securing compliance. You should be ready to mentor your team members, find ways to increase quality of customer service and implement best practices across all levels.

Responsibilities
Operational Efficiency: Oversee the entire production process for bread and pastry lines, ensuring efficiency and quality, for staff and equipment. Streamline processes for improved productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Team Leadership: Motivate and manage a team of skilled bakers and staff, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
Planning, Coordinating, and Organizing: Excellent time management skills and ability to work to deadlines, multitask, and meet changing deadlines. Create and maintain a sight of goals to keep everyone on task. You will communicate clearly with staff at all levels, providing thoughts and seeking feedback/ideas.
Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control standards to maintain product excellence.
Safety and Compliance: Complete reports ensuring adherence to health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Staff Management& Support: Manage staff rosters. Develop rostering forecasts, on-shift performance measurements, and training plans. Provide guidance and leadership to all employees across the business to ensure that all employees feel supported and valued in their work. Deal with any performance management/moderate staff issues promptly and effectively. In consultation with key business areas, coordinate the recruitment, induction, and training of new employees. Oversee the development and negotiation of employee contracts and conditions of employment.
Finance and Administration: Develop and monitor relevant key performance indicators and objectives for employees, including but not limited to, COGS targets and wage targets.
Develop and implement initiatives to improve the profitability of specific business areas. Collect and analyse reports and data to track these targets. Liaise with the Finance Officer to develop, implement, and maintain key processes including debtor management, invoicing processing, and cash handling.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the maintenance of all vehicles and equipment is kept at a high standard at all times. Manage the service logs and scheduling of all assets and maintain an asset register.
Sales and New Business Development: Oversee the development and implementation of marketing and advertising strategies across all business areas. Build excellent rapport and relationships with all stakeholders. Oversee the development of Markets and offsite trading. Liaise with key industry partners and employees to develop new products and events to drive business growth.
Innovation and Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives, embracing innovation in baking techniques and operational processes.
Job Skills Required

- Preferred, but not essential, proven experience in bakery production management or a similar role.
- Preferred, but not essential, knowledge of artisan baking processes and quality standards.
