We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team working from our Melbourne Head office with the ability to travel interstate when required.
Role
This role will suit a commercially astute leader experienced with multi-disciplined maintenance and remediation of oil and gas and petrochemical plants.
Previous hands on experience essential in leading teams and driving projects to be completed safely and within budget.
At least 7 years’ experience with fabric maintenance and operations management in the resources sector with a thorough understanding of Coatings, Fireproofing and Industrial Mechanical projects. Knowledge of IRATA and Rope Access would also be an advantage.
Exceptional time management and organisational skills will be key.
Excellent technical, commercial and financial knowledge with the ability to oversee all aspects of projects from start to finish.
Provable site execution capability, working closely with Supervisors, Project Managers, Engineers and Client representatives to maintain existing relationships and service delivery.
Must have the ability to assist the client and on-site supervisors with scheduling, scoping and estimating emerging works of all scopes.
The role will involve working alongside the management team and site supervisors closely to ensure project objectives are met on time with respect to safety, quality and cost.
Role will be based out of our Melbourne office with the ability for regular interstate travel. Flexible with rosters dependant upon projects.
Experience
Our ideal candidate would have Project Management and Operations experience with a background in engineering and experience in handling simultaneous projects.
It will be preferable for applicants to demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary Qualification (trade or higher qualifications) in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent field experience with leadership / supervisory capability & experience
- Strong WHSE and HR awareness and capability
- At least 7 years experience in operations & maintenance of heavy industry/oil and gas plants with focus on mechanical repair, coatings, access, fireproofing, insulation and cladding
- Extensive supervisory/management experience
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in managing complex, multifaceted projects
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, MS Projects, Excel and/or Primavera
- Experience in estimating an advantage
Skills & Responsibilities
- Leading from the front and instilling clear lines of communication in the team
- Ensure alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards, leveraging expertise in engineering, asset management, and project management
- Lead the integration of operational readiness activities into project planning and execution, utilizing extensive experience in heavy industry/oil and gas and resources operations
- Collaborate closely with project teams to identify and address operational readiness considerations across all operational domains
- Working with the client to find solutions to challenges and executing the project in a safe, cost effective manner
- Building and leading a high-performance safety culture which sustains safe work delivery
- Maximise workflow efficiencies through systems, processes and procedures
- Obtain clear agreement on project team and stakeholder objectives
- Project Controls – demonstrable experience, maintaining schedules, resource plans and cost estimates
- Execution Methodologies
- Risk Assessments and commitment to WHSE
- Liaise with National HSE Manager
- Receipt of RFQ's, interpreting work scopes, drawings and technical documentation. Raising queries for clarifications as required
- Identify, engage and manage prospective and existing subcontractors
- Attend site inspections and revision of work scopes when required
- Provide a high level of client care and establish positive and productive working relationships with key stakeholders
- Ability to build a strong team and invest in their growth
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and diplomacy skills and highly effective written and oral communication skills
