About the Position
Master Steel specializes in the technical manufacture and assembly of steel components for the heavy industries, local councils and state government. In this position you will be part of the workshop production team where you will perform supervision and management while meeting the project’s deadlines and labour hours. You will be reporting to the management team and Company Directors daily. In this role you will be expected to do the following:
- Workshop based role - Lead and oversee the production
- Understanding project requirements, scope of work and production planning for handover to production crew
- Meeting project budgets - commercial focus on budgets not limited to labour hours, production expenses, other costs associated, etc
- Responsible for meeting client deadlines and ensuring daily targets are met
- Liaising with the projects team with executing the project, understanding of the production flow chart and implement system to ensure continuous and lean manufacturing
- Understand manufacturing specifications – ensuring the steel components meet critical points for ITP, welding to pass NDT, etc
- Ensure 0 downtime and introduce efficiencies on operational activities
- Direct and supervise workshop staff comprising of including (but not limited to): engineers, productions assistants, fabricators, general labourers, labour hire personnel, etc.
- People management skills and delegating tasks accordingly
- Plant & Equipment and other asset continuous operations and maintenance
- Inventory control on consumables and maintenance of assets including equipment and tools
- Conducting morning meetings with the production team
- Advice management of workshop activities with daily reports
You will need the following:
- Prior experience as a supervisor or manager in a manufacturing environment
- Time management and coordination skills
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, engineering or other related heavy industries
- Experience in steel and/or fabrication (highly advantageous but not necessary)
- Must be punctual, disciplined and be strict with supervision
- Must have good attitude, proactive, reliable and a team player
- Must have enthusiasm for steel, technology, and manufacturing processes
- Strong focus on automation and continuous manufacturing
