Ophthalmic Assistant/Medical Receptionist

Singleton & Muswellbrook Eye Surgery are a busy Ophthalmology clinic dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to patients requiring specialist treatment of a comprehensive range of eye concerns. 

We have an opportunity for a combined Ophthalmic Assistant/Medical Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis (1-3 days per week), working closely with our surgeons and friendly, tight knit team members who are committed to excellence in all aspects of patient care. 

Previous experience within a medical, optometry or other related field would be advantageous, however we will offer full training without any prior medical experience to the right candidate who shows a motivation to learn, has a strong team work ethic and can provide exceptional customer service. 

Duties will include:

• Ensuring a positive experience for patients
• Patient work ups
• Testing visual acuities
• Checking intraocular pressures
• Visual field testing
• OCT scanning
• Ocular biometry
• Retinal photography including fluorescein angiography
• Preparing patients for laser procedures and minor procedures such as intravitreal injections
• Sterilisation
• Managing appointment bookings
• Billing and receipting
• Theatre bookings
• Restocking consult and procedure rooms
• Assisting with all general office/reception duties
• Answering patient telephone enquiries
