Southwest Eye Surgeons is a busy, expanding, specialist medical Ophthalmology Practice in South Bunbury.About the role
Your responsibilities will include: assessing patients' visions; checking intra-ocular pressure; instilling eye drops; obtaining appropriate scans and assisting in minor procedures.
As well as some admin duties: ordering stock; updating policies; recording all procedures and processing sterilisation of all equipment as required.
We are seeking a self-driven, mature minded professional Ophthalmic Nurse / Clinical Assistant , who enjoys working in a busy team environment.The role has a strong clinical focus. The successful applicant will be trained by our staff to screen patients and assist the ophthalmologists using state of the art medical technology.
Skills and experience
As well as being a "people person" you will also:
- Possess general experience of medical/hospital practice and aseptic techniques
- Have excellent patient interaction skills
- Have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Have experience with Genie software (desirable but not essential)
- Be 'hands on' and enjoy using sophisticated equipment
- Ophthalmic or optical experience is a bonus, but not required
- Assist Ophthalmologist with Minor Operations & Procedures
- This role would be suitable but not essential for either an enrolled or registered nurse, or an experienced optical dispenser.

The successful candidate will be required to work full-time, five days per week - a 76 hour fortnight, be available for shifts between Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.30am and 5.00pm.
Based in our South Bunbury clinic, you will also visit 'away' clinics, e.g. in Busselton and Narrogin, occasionally.
