Job description

Who we are

Q5 is an international award-winning consulting firm, specialising in organisational health. From cracking strategic challenges and designing the most effective organisational structures, to building capability in teams; we help companies work better and smarter. As part of our strategy, we continue to expand and grow across all of our international locations including Australia, Europe, North America and the Middle East. We combine our global expertise with locally based delivery to get the best results for our clients. We pride ourselves on delivering work in a unique, collaborative way: a partnership approach, with joint teams and clear outcomes, agreed benefits and shared success.

What we do

Organisational Health is what separates ‘good’ organisations from the ‘great’. We work with executive teams globally and nationally to address the 5 key foundations to healthy and high performing organisations:

  • Clear & coherent strategy tied to a common purpose
  • Effective and efficient operating model and organisation design
  • A proven ability to implement change and transformation
  • Talented people motivated by the right culture and empowered by their leaders
  • All underpinned by technology, data & insights that align to strategic objectives.

What we are looking for

As an Associate - Organisational Design Expert, you will be responsible for contributing to our work with clients in helping them get the right shape and size of organisation to deliver to their strategies; leading workstreams and supporting the delivery of projects.

Associates are used throughout Q5 to bring specialist knowledge, industry experience and additional capability on short to medium term assignments.

 Key responsibilities include

  • Leading project teams to deliver outcomes for the client
  • Working collaboratively with project teams to deliver high-quality work and outcomes for clients
  • Contributing to problem solving, conducting research, and analysing data
  • Preparing client deliverables such as presentations and reports
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Supporting business development activities by identifying new leads and opportunities
  • Contributing to thought leadership and knowledge sharing within the firm .

The sort of person we look for at Q5

  • Embrace a “startup” culture – as we grow in Australia we need team members who are ready to take risks, try something different, and join us on this new journey as we continue to grow our Australian business. Adventurers only need apply.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible thinking style – We often find ourselves working across a variety of contexts and a ‘simple’ challenge turns out to be much more complex than it first appears. You need to be able to quickly join the dots together and develop a plan to move forward. You also need to be able to adapt that plan when it is not working.
  • Collaborative working style – This is one of our key differentiators. It’s not about being the smartest person in the room but instead helping to bring different stakeholders together to create a solution that works for the business. There is a “we” not “I” mindset.
  • Genuinely care about your clients and colleagues to help them succeed– When Q5 was founded it was to be more than a typical, transactional consulting firm. We are genuine partners with our clients focused on their long-term success, which means we hire people who are wired to care, be empathetic and get joy from seeing others succeed.  Associates are also expected to work with, care for and be part of managing other Q5ers.
  • Resilient in the face of challenges, tight timelines, and client expectations – We continually strive to create a positive working environment, but the reality of our work is that it is hard and therefore not for everyone. The people who succeed at Q5 can work under pressure without losing their sense of humor or care for others.
  • You get your hands dirty and step-up – We have a flat structure. If you enjoy getting stuck into a client’s challenge, pushing the team forward and solving problems with others you will thrive. We pride ourselves on developing our junior team members and creating supportive environments where people can bring their true selves to work (and in turn do their best work). We're firm believers that everyone needs to roll up their sleeves to get the job done!

What we ask for

The ideal Associate will have deep and relevant experience in organisation design or related areas.

They should have experience of working on or leading Organisational Design projects with clients (or as an internal organisation Design Expert) and be able to:

  •  Undertake effective ‘As Is’ analysis (this includes quantitative and qualitative analysis)
  • Facilitate a process to understand future ambitions and the implications for shape, size and design that result from a defined strategy
  • Deliver comprehensive activity analysis reviews
  • Facilitate, or create via other means, clear and effective Operating Model options (that articulate how the organisation and activities are grouped to deliver the organisation’s strategy)
  • Develop high-level structural blueprints that can then be cascaded through a detailed design process right through the organisation
  • Create job descriptions that accurately reflect the new organisation’s structure and strategy
  • Develop clear behaviours, ways of working and governance that will enable the new design to operate effectively
  • Create detailed implementation / rollout plans that enable the transition of the organisation from one state to another.

You will also have

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above (various disciplines welcome)
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and build relationships with clients
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to take initiative
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Availability to travel and go to the client, if needed .

Q5 have a long history of working with Associates across the Globe. We work with Associates collaboratively who form a key component of the project team.

Summary of role requirements:
  • Flexible hours available
  • More than 4 years of relevant work experience required for this role
