The Mt Crosby P & C Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is seeking Casual Educators to work within our Before, After and Vacation Care program.
The successful applicant will be committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for primary school age children, and will actively contribute to meaningful leisure programs that promote positive outcomes for all children. You must be able to supervise and care for all children within our service and play space and be able to Implement programmed activities when requested. You must have an understanding of My Time, Our Place, have the ability to work as part of a team and be an energetic, enthusiastic worker who shows initiative and follows directions.
Duties include:
- Assist in the facilitation of engaging, relevant and appropriate learning environments and curricula that promote children’s holistic development and enhance children’s progress across the five outcomes of the Learning Framework for School Age Care.
- Support the inclusion of children with additional needs, including children with disabilities, children with complex health support needs, Aboriginal children and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds;
- Participate in and support the use of reflective practice to document individual children’s learning and development, thereby realizing continuous improvement;
- Assist in the implementation of service processes for collecting, analyzing, interpreting and applying observation and assessment information;
- Be aware of the importance of modelling good language/attitudes and develop positive, respectful relationships with children, providing them with effective individual guidance using appropriate techniques and strategies;
- Value children’s perspectives by facilitating opportunities for, and enabling them to express their views and ideas in appropriate ways, thereby encouraging child empowerment, leadership and voice;
- Support children’s capacity for leadership, self-reflection, communication and appreciation of others;
- Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of one’s own cultural identity, beliefs and practices on others and, in collaboration with other educators, actively support a service environment where culture is valued, respected and accessed to inform all aspects of the program and day to day operations;
- Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop supportive and trusting relationships with all stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication;
To be successful in this role you must hold:
- Working with Children Check (WWC- Blue Card)
It would be desirable if you held the following:
- Senior first aid, CPR, emergency asthma management and anaphylaxis training
- Minimum Cert III in Children's Services or relevant Cert III level OSHC qualification
Hours/Conditions/Award: This is a casual position of 15-20 hours per week. Hours will be as per the weekly work schedule. Split shifts will also be required. Remuneration will be as per the Parents and Citizens Associations Award 2016.
