Job description

Whether you're experienced in the Education or childcare sector, have done some babysitting, this is the first time you're thinking about working with children, or anything in between, THIS is the role for you!

Gladstone West State School Helping Hands Network is looking for a passionate and dedicated Coordinator to provide engaging services for children in our before and after school care capacity. This is a permanent full-time (38 hours per week) opportunity, assisting in leading a team of Educators. This is a role for those experienced in working with children, dedicated to take ownership of an existing service and passionate about development of a team.

Hours are as follows: Monday – Friday, 06:00 – 9:00 AM (Rise then Shine Program) and 02:30 – 6:00 PM (Stay and Play Program) plus additional admin hours. The middle of your day is free, and you can pick up extra hours during the school holidays too!

About the role

Leading a team of Educators, you will manage a service at a primary school in the hours before and after school for children aged 5-12 years. You'll have the support of a state specific office, plus regional managers who regularly visit and mentor you at your service.

  • Develop and facilitate an engaging child-centered program full of exciting experiences such as STEM, sport, cooking, art and craft - whatever you and the children are into!
  • Foster healthy relationships with children, the school, community, and parents.
  • Lead a team of Educators onsite, including roster management.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of your service including compliance and administration.

About the school

Gladstone West State School HHN is an existing beautiful and vibrant service with 60 licence capacity. We have a wonderful relationship with the school as we work together to problem solve and to ensure a safe environment for the children. Our HHN service operates from a dedicated room with access to other spaces in the school such as an amazing huge outdoor undercover basketball area.

Who are we looking for?

We can teach you about the job and sector, but a few basics you need to have:

  • Enjoy working with kids
  • Strong and clear communication
  • Team player with a desire to become a service leader
  • Hold or willing to obtain a national police check (we'll pay for it!) and a state check for working with children
  • Australian work rights
  • Meet the minimum QLD requirements to work in ratio in OSHC according to ACECQA, or be willing to obtain a relevant qualification.
