We are looking for a Packaging Designer to join our team!
Sue Ismiel & Daughters is an Australian-based, 100% woman-owned, consumer goods company with a global presence and multiple brands in the personal care category. Our goal is to help women, men and their families look and feel their best by offering a wide range of high-quality products that are effective, gentle, and cruelty-free.
As the Packaging Designer within our group, your role will entail crafting and updating packaging designs that are both visually captivating and functionally effective. You will work closely with a global, cross-functional team to effectively communicate the brand message through packaging designs, while reflecting the brand identity, striking a chord with target demographics, and presenting our products in the most compelling manner possible.
This is a part-time, remote position, working 3 days per week. Must be based in Sydney.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with design and marketing to grasp packaging needs and project goals.
- Manage multiple projects from concept through completion under tight deadlines.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams by e-mail daily to disseminate new proofs, align on deadlines and output files for production.
- Manage packaging revisions for all brands in company portfolio and in various global markets.
- Update existing packaging files with new information, such as regulatory details, new claims and ingredient lists, using high attention to detail and in a timely manner, as per brief deadlines.
- Update additional product components, such as jars and instruction leaflets, ensuring consistency throughout.
- Prepare and optimize files for print and production, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
- Create inventive packaging designs that harmonize and uphold consistency with the brand's visual identity, values and messaging.
- Adhere rigorously to regulatory and industry-specific packaging standards, including labelling prerequisites.
- Familiarise with regulatory and compliance standards pertaining to packaging.
- Perform thorough quality assessments to ensure the final printed packaging aligns with design specifications.
- Effectively communicate and present packaging design concepts to internal stakeholders.
- Translate information and communicate with translators for packaging extensions.
- Create 2D and 3D renders for all new packaging designs.
- Maintain and organise filing system.
- Keep abreast of industry trends.
Experience
- Mid-senior level design experience
- Packaging design experience within the FMCG sector particularly within beauty, lifestyle, wellness sectors
- Experience in managing multiple projects in a fast-paced working environment
- Tertiary qualification in graphic design or alike
Skills
- A conceptual thinker with the ability to execute, and a strong work ethic
- Highly proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- High attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational skills, time-management & deadline-oriented.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with an international team and in a professional manner
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow employees, treating all clients, both internal and external with dignity and respect
- Multilingual reading & writing is a plus
Benefits
- Salary: $36,000 - $45,000 based on experience
- Remote work
