This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Speech Pathologist to work in the busy and dynamic Speech Pathology department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The is a maternity leave locum position until end of April 2025. Applicants with experience in the areas of paediatric communication disorders, dysphagia/feeding disorders, and student supervision, are encouraged to apply.
What you'll be doing
The primary focus of the position is to provide a comprehensive Speech Pathology service to children, young people and their families, referred from the relevant clinical area. This includes the provision of assessment, management, advocacy and consultancy in the area of expertise. The Speech Pathologist is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team and will be required to participate in clinical, educational, administrative and management activities that are required to provide an efficient and effective Speech Pathology service.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Speech Pathology with eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
- Extensive post graduate clinical experience with demonstrated advanced clinical practice and reasoning skills, with the ability to work autonomously while managing busy and complex client groups.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing quality improvement and service evaluation processes, including the use of evidence based practice, to assist and provide guidance to service managers.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication including well developed information technology skills.
- Experience conducting clinical research and the provision of Clinical Education programs / lectures to speech pathology students, parents and other professional groups.
- Demonstrated experience in staff and student supervision.
