About the role
We are looking for an experienced Panel Shop Foreperson to oversee operations of the panel workshop, ensuring repairs are completed in accordance with the appropriate method of repair, to a high-quality standard and safe work practices are followed.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of the panel beating shop
- Ensure a safe and tidy working environment for staff and customers across the site
- Ensure parts and admin teams collaborate prior to vehicles arriving on site to deliver a seamless repair experience for the customer
- Check vehicles as they arrive and review repair quotes to ensure accuracy and completeness, including appropriate methods of repair
- Manage the repair process to deliver timely, cost effective, efficient, and high-quality repairs the first time
- Create a workflow in repair production that is free from bottlenecks to achieve key to key repair timeframes
- Deal with insurance assessors
- Managing a team of skilled technicians and administrative staff
- Ensuring high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction
- Monitoring inventory and supplies
- Upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the industry and proud to lead a great team. You’ve got a knack for finding solutions to challenges and think quick to resolve issues. You are empathetic to customers, provide regular feedback to staff, and take a hands-on approach to ensure you’re delivering high quality repair outcomes and consistently great customer experiences.
Skills and Experience
- Trade Qualification Panel Beater or Spray Painter
- Experience in a similar management role at a truck, car, machinery or agricultural dealership
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels
- Confident at setting and adhering to timeframes
- Proactive approach monitoring adherence to process and improving outcomes
- Able to delegate tasks and follow through to completion
- Display flexibility to meet changing requirements within a dynamic workplace
- Familiar with industry quoting software including iBodyshop
- Have an eye for detail and will not compromise on safety and quality
- Kenworth or DAF experience (desirable)
