As a ParentsNext Support Mentor at Bamara, located in Alice Springs, you will play a vital role in supporting and empowering parents to re-enter the workforce or education.
This permanent part-time position of 22.8 hours per week within the ParentsNext department offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community services sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with parents to assess their individual needs, barriers, and goals related to employment and education.
- Provide personalised mentoring and support to assist parents in developing pathways towards achieving their employment and education objectives.
- Collaborate with local support services, employers, and educational institutions to facilitate access to relevant opportunities for parents. - Deliver group workshops and training sessions on topics such as job readiness, parenting skills, and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of participant progress and outcomes in accordance with program requirements.
Main Tasks:
- Conduct initial assessments of parents' circumstances and aspirations to inform tailored support plans.
- Offer one-on-one guidance and encouragement to help parents overcome challenges and develop practical skills for the workplace or educational settings.
- Establish strong partnerships with community organisations, employers, and training providers to enhance the range of opportunities available to program participants.
- Plan and deliver engaging workshops that address various aspects of personal development and employability skills.
- Ensure timely documentation of all interactions with participants, including progress updates, goal setting, and referrals made.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in providing support and guidance to individuals or families facing challenges
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues and barriers faced by parents returning to work or study
