JimmyRum is Victoria’s first dedicated craft rum distillery with an audacious goal, to change the way Australians think about rum. Uncomplicated, unpretentious, and unruly, we've created can spirits and rums that are distinctive, downright delicious and now nationally and internationally award winning.
We're a rum distillery with a premium cocktail bar and restaurant, serving up to 120 patrons in our cellar door and rum garden. Showcasing our rum and cane spirit products with amazing cocktails, next level shared food and amazing rum experiences.
With a venue that is casual and relaxed, child & pet friendly, it’s a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike, often having different entertainment lined up all weekend.
The role
Our little Mornington Peninsula Craft Rum distillery is growing fast and we have a fantastic opportunity for a Part Time Chef (around 30 hours) to join our fun and passionate team. As a respected member of our team, you will be working will be in charge of the brand new kitchen. We are only open 4 days (Thurs-Sunday) a week, so you cant be overworked! These hours may increase in Summer. This is a perfect role for a chef that does not want to work 60 hours a week but still loves the game.
Your responsibilities include
- Managing kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with all Food and Beverage policies, standards and procedures
- Manage all ordering and preparation
- Be able to work without supervision and be efficient in managing your time and tasks.
- Manage service on days the restaurant is open
- Working to invent new menus using our amazing rums!
- Maintaining purchasing and receiving food storage standards
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Operating and maintaining all department equipment and report malfunctions
- Checking quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
You’re someone who
- Has proven experience in a similar role
- Is energetic, dynamic and innovative
- Is a team player and has great communications skills
- Has experience in a high volume environment with diverse styles
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a “can do” attitude and hands-on approach
- Has cooking qualifications
- Is available to work evenings and weekends
- Likes Rum and cocktails also an advantage
