The role will drive collaboration, clinical safety, and quality and risk management for Pathology IT systems in alignment with the Eastern Health strategic plan and in compliance with NPAAC accreditation requirements. In addition to assuming effective governance over the Laboratory Information System, and its relationship to other applications and programs within Eastern Health, the incumbent will work with the Program Director to drive our Pathology informatics strategy.The Manager, Pathology Informatics will work closely with the Program Director to support a data-driven approach to operational and business improvement, build and maintain effective systems to support clinical excellence and the appropriate and cost effective utilisation of Pathology services. A key role will include horizon scanning, innovation and evaluation of new technologies, such as digital pathology, AI and knowledge management systems, to support a modern, sustainable and competitive Pathology service.About youIn this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless functioning of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) across Eastern Health Pathology. Your key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the governance of the Pathology Laboratory Information System and associated applications to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services.
• Collaborating with system vendors, Eastern Health IT, and relevant stakeholders to plan and manage system enhancements and upgrades safely and effectively.
• Ensuring timely and effective communication regarding IT issues to laboratory staff, Pathology management, and other stakeholders.
• Managing the Pathology IT support team and providing leadership, alongside senior Pathology managers, for the LIS subject matter expert (SME) team.
• Ensuring compliance with Eastern Health requirements for governance and risk management of IT systems.
• Working closely with the Program Director and other Eastern Health programs to ensure alignment with organizational strategy.
• Building relationships with clinical program stakeholders and the Eastern Health EMR team to align with clinical requirements for patient-centered care.
• Developing and maintaining a sustainable, customer-focused business model for Pathology services for the Eastern Health community in collaboration with the Program Director and senior management.
• Supporting innovation and service improvement through data-driven business analysis, evaluation of new technologies, and collaborative work with Eastern Health clinicians and stakeholders.
• Supporting programs for clinical improvement and the appropriate and cost-effective use of Pathology services.
• Identifying opportunities for new technologies to support innovation and maintain a contemporary and sustainable Pathology service.
• Collaborating with the Pathology management team and the Pathology Patient Accounts team to ensure appropriate management of Pathology billing consistent with Medicare and EH requirements.
• Fostering a culture of patient-centered care and ensuring that patients and staff are treated with dignity, courtesy, respect, and kindness.
• Supporting the development and implementation of related policies, standards, and practice guidelines within the Program and more broadly as needed.
• Upholding and modelling personal practice and behaviour that ensures all individuals are treated courteously, respectfully, and without discrimination.
• Identifying opportunities to engage with consumers and incorporate their feedback/participation into Informatics-related programs.
