A pathology laboratory scientist plays a crucial role in the patient’s overall experience. You are responsible for providing high quality pathology services (within both the andrology and endocrine laboratories) for patients at Repromed. With a strong focus on the needs of the patient and clinician, you will directly enhance and improve fertility outcomes. Under guidance from the Pathology Laboratory Supervisor, your responsibilities include:
- Deliver outstanding service and best outcomes for patients and for Repromed
- Provide hands-on high-quality pathology services including semen analyses and other andrology diagnostic tests
- Sperm freezing
- Data entry, reporting and patient liaison
- Assist with ensuring we meet all laboratory standards in accordance with NATA, NPAAC and Medicare requirements
- Packaging and freighting cryopreserved material to other sites blood analysis
- Perform routine assays in an accurate and timely manner using automated techniques
- Liaise with referring Doctors in regard to interpretation of pathology reports
- Participate in the rostered timetable including evenings and weekends
Understanding there are ups and down in reproductive health, the pathology laboratory scientist will take initiative to solve problems and endeavour to maintain a high attention to detail to improve fertility outcomes. Ideally you will bring the following:
- Bachelor degree in Science (with honours degree preferable)
- Three years andrology or endocrine laboratory experience (preferable)
- Proven ability to work as a team member
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines
- Able to solve problems and work to deadlines
- Excellent organisational, record keeping and administrative skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong sense of initiative
