Job description

Are you passionate about empowering young people to achieve their education, training, and employment goals? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to be part of our management team as a Pathways Manager at Mid Coast Connect.

About Us

Mid Coast Connect is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of young people across the mid-north coast region, spanning from Kempsey to Bulahdelah. Our programs are designed to support young people in their journey through school and into further education, training, and employment.

About the Role

We are seeking a team player who is driven by a genuine desire to see young people succeed.

As the Pathways Manager, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership, coaching and operational support to foster a positive team environment and culture.
  • Manage the Pathways team and your allocated caseload, overseeing day-to-day activities, and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Empower and motivate your team to meet individual and team KPIs.
  • Network and facilitate collaborative school-business-community partnerships.
  • Implement a range of activities and events to support young people’s transition from school to further education, training and employment.

In addition to being an excellent leader, you will thrive on the challenge and responsibility of connecting young people with meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities.

 Why Join Us

At Mid Coast Connect, we believe that every young person deserves a chance to succeed. As a Pathways Manager, you'll have a unique opportunity to support the team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future for local young people.

Join us and enjoy:

Meaningful Work: Implement programs that truly make a difference by helping young people overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Community Engagement: Collaborate and build relationships with key stakeholders in the region to provide education, training, and employment opportunities for young people.

Independence and Accountability: Work autonomously to implement programs and activities, manage the team, and handle your own caseload to meet program outcomes and targets.

Access to Resources: You’ll be equipped with a laptop, mobile phone, and access to our pool vehicle for work-related travel. Additionally, you'll benefit from industry network events and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Benefits: Enjoy extra paid leave, above-award salary, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and optional salary packaging to increase your take home pay.

Essential Selection Criteria

To excel in this role, you should possess:

1.  Experience in implementing youth, education, training, and/or employment programs.

2.  Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational management, lead and motivate teams, and manage program contracts to achieve KPIs.

3. Strong case management experience, coaching, and mentoring skills.

4.  Exceptional customer service skills and a proven capacity to network and maintain productive stakeholder relationships.

5.  Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently manage competing priorities, meet targets, and work to tight deadlines.

6.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with solid administration, IT, and compliance capabilities.

7.  A current full driver’s licence, National Police Check, and Working with Children Check.

Terms and Conditions

The position can be based at Kempsey, Port Macquarie or Taree, and involves regular travel throughout the region, with access to a pool vehicle for work-related trips. A full (unrestricted) driver’s licence is required.

This is a salaried position with employment conditions as per the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2020.

Ongoing employment will be subject to satisfactory performance in the position, contractual obligations, business demand, and the availability of ongoing funding for the position.

Flexibility and a willingness to contribute to team-based practices are expected, including occasional attendance at meetings and events outside regular business hours.

Preferred applicants will undergo employment screening due to Child Protection Legislation.

How to Apply

We are wanting to hear from candidates who are experienced people leaders, enjoy building business relationships, thrive in a target-based environment and are motivated by helping young people with their career pathways.  If this sounds like you and you’re ready to join our dynamic team, please follow these steps:

1. Address the selection criteria, providing details of your relevant experience and capacity to perform the role. Also nominate your preferred office base location.

 2. Submit an up-to-date resume.

 3. Provide the contact details for three work-related referees.

Applications will be shortlisted as they are received. Please apply as soon as possible to be considered. Thank you!
