About the team
The scope of this role sits within Coles Group Limited, supporting all brands across the Coles Group Portfolio (i.e. Express, Liquor, Coles Services, Distribution Centres, RROA, Chef Fresh and Supermarkets). The Coles Group consists of 130,000 team members spanning across Australia. Reporting directly into the Head of Payroll, Governance and Compliance, the Payroll Compliance Manager will lead and provide assurance around payroll compliance and reporting, drive a consistent approach in performing payroll related activities across brands and lift the Coles Payroll compliance capability to reduce Payroll non-compliance risk, reputational damage and financial loss.
About the role
- Required to lead the compliance team including the implementation of operational changes
- Advise on audit recommendations, refining internal controls, build and maintain a consolidated risk profile
- Build and maintain a consolidated list of payroll related issues, with a prioritised plan to address these
- Lead the delivery of project teams to execute on this plan whilst maintaining a focus on data lead decisions which will drive process optimisation, strong controls and a reduction in the overall risk profile
- Build and maintain a deep understanding of the payroll and T&A landscape (e.g. systems, capability, processes and controls, employment legislation and EAs)
About you and your skills
- Strong experience working in a governance, compliance risk and controls environment
- Demonstrated experience with payroll (including ongoing system review and customisation) and end to end payroll processes
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex industrial instruments including Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
- Prior leadership experience in a complex matrix environment
- BSc / BA in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Human Resources or related field – required
- Ability to understand and apply risk management practices, approaches and frameworks
