The Role
HIA is currently seeking a Payroll Lead to lead our organisations payroll activities, to be located from either our National office in Canberra, our Melbourne office in Burnley, or Gold Coast office in Varsity Lakes.
Working as part of HIA’s Employee Services team, the Payroll Lead manages all areas of HIA’s payroll activities including:
- Accurate and timely processing and maintenance of HIA’s national salaried payroll and employee records utilising Aurion;
- Preparation of monthly and yearly returns including payroll tax, workers compensation and superannuation for HIA and its related entities;
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of payroll information to key stakeholders including board reporting, HR reporting, Insurance, and WGEA;
- Processing of compliance payments and related end of financial year requirements;
- Salary package processing and assist Finance staff with reconciliations;
- Monitor and ensure compliance with changes affecting payroll processing such as changes in taxation, superannuation, award rates and conditions, arbitrated decisions, etc. and
- Continual process improvement.
The ideal applicant will have the qualities of:
- Experience with the Aurion payroll system (highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of employment law conditions
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel
- Problem solving and reconciliation skills
- Ability to develop relationships and build trust with employees with a strong customer service focus
- Ability to use initiative and a strong attention to detail
- Capability to operate with absolute discretion.
