Reporting to the CFO, who has been an integral part of our business for over six years, you will feel supported from day one with a go-to person for knowledge and assistance.
Navigating complex agreements seamlessly, our expertise extends across multiple companies, with a global reach spanning Australia, Canada, the US, and China.
Leading a team of six, you will oversee the payroll function, guaranteeing timely and accurate completion of payroll runs for Sedgman and its subsidiaries, while actively upskilling and supporting the team daily.

Primary Duties:
- Manage a complex payroll for 1300 employees, ensuring timely and error-free completion and approval in compliance with regulations for both Australian and international payrolls.
- Supervise the calculation, remittance, and reconciliation of all payroll on-cost payments (including superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG) and staff deductions, ensuring prompt and accurate completion.
- Administer termination payments following industrial agreements and company policies.
- Oversee the reconciliation processes to guarantee accurate data is posted to Finance.
- Maintain training materials and procedural documentation for the payroll system, ensuring they are current and easily accessible.
- Oversee the relationship and associated activities with our salary packaging provider, and respond to customer queries, adhering to SLA's.
- Provide system assistance to users as required for timesheet entry, ESS (Employee Self-Service), and MSS (Manager Self-Service).
- Drive efficiency through continuous process improvement initiatives.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated payroll management experience.
- An understanding of the mining industry and portable LSL would be advantageous.
- Proven experience with complex industrial instruments, across multiple companies.
- Demonstrated leadership and development skills, guiding and motivating team members to achieve common objectives.
- Possesses a profound understanding of payroll principles and associated tax laws, particularly in Award and Enterprise Agreement-based payrolls.
- Strong time management skills, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and within specified timeframes.
