Position Title:Payroll Officer
Salary Range: $90k - $99k per annum + 17% Super (Full-time permanent)
Location: Newcastle Outskirts with Work From Home flexibility

Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Payroll Processing Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of various payroll matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and audit requirements.
Core Responsibilities & Typical Activities:
Production of Fortnightly Payroll:
- Process a wide range of payroll matters using HRIS and associated systems.
- Maintain accurate taxation records including TFN declarations.
- Conduct payroll data reporting and checking processes for accuracy.
- Process payroll actions such as new appointments, variations, and terminations.
- Handle scholarship payments and manage the Single Touch Payroll process.
Customer Service to Clients:
- Resolve employee enquiries regarding pay and entitlements.
- Conduct payroll-related information sessions for key staff.
- Monitor and respond to payroll services email enquiries.
- Process exception pays and implement API efficiencies.
Audit and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and audit requirements.
- Provide assistance for payroll responsibilities during audits.
- Maintain accurate records and implement audit findings.
Policy and Procedure:
- Provide specialist interpretation and advice on payroll processing.
- Contribute input and recommendations to HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Financial Services procedures.
Relationship Building and Working Collaboratively:
- Liaise with Financial Services for accurate reconciliations.
- Maintain relationships with HR teams, Information Technology, and external stakeholders.
- Participate in cross-functional groups to improve HR service delivery.
Position Characteristics:

- Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and industry developments.

Essential Criteria:
- Degree qualification with relevant payroll experience, or extensive payroll experience with specialist expertise.
- Proven experience in a computerized payroll environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and take responsibility for decisions.
- High level of computer literacy with proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
