About your new role:
The Payroll Solutions Officer is a newly created position focussed on assisting the Payroll Services team to administer and continuously improve the organisation’s payroll service. This senior role will contribute to the administration of the City’s large and complex weekly pay cycle which supports a workforce of over 4,800 full-time, part-time, and casual employees across multiple awards and industrial instruments. Embedded within the People and Culture team and reporting to the Coordinator Payroll Services, the role is responsible for:
Working as a part of a cohesive team to meet all required deadlines and levels of service associated with a busy weekly pay cycle.
Preparation and assistance with the implementation of Single Touch Payroll phase2
Preparation and assisting with End of Financial Year processing.
Providing accurate administration of second level pay rectifications and recovery processes ensuring compliance to applicable superannuation and tax requirements.
Maintaining currency of knowledge related to industrial instruments (Certified Agreement, Awards), taxation, superannuation and payroll regulations through training and utilisation of specialist internal/external advice.
Making recommendations to the Coordinator Payroll Services for implementation of changes related to wages, taxation, superannuation, and payroll regulation changes.
Providing accurate information in response to line manager and employee queries.
Providing input to payroll audits conducted by external and internal auditing stakeholders.
What you bring to your new role
3 years minimum experience in end-to-end payroll.
Experience in training and guiding team members to understand and deploy business processes and operating procedures.
Exposure to multiple industrial instruments and high-volume (+1000 employees) payroll processing.
Strong, demonstrated understanding of superannuation, payroll, and leave accruals.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
CHRIS21 experience and Single Touch Payroll.
