Overview
The Director - People & Culture is a key role accountable for leading various aspects of people, culture, and HR across the business. In this role, you will partner with senior management and be responsible for the end-to-end people experience including people enablement, capability development, leadership, culture, engagement, reward, recognition, and retention.
You will be passionate about all things “people”. You will love supporting your people managers, getting to know the business, and providing pragmatic solutions to their everyday challenges.
You will have a particular focus on creating an incredible culture for our staff, staff progression, organisational effectiveness, and employee engagement, partnering & and coaching your stakeholders to integrate our culture & and values into our employee experience and driving HR projects.
Core responsibilities:
Develop and implement the organization's HR strategy in alignment with business goals.
Provide strategic guidance to the executive team on HR matters.
Handle complex employee relations issues and guide HR staff.
Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance.
Develop and update HR policies and procedures.
Lead the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
Conduct regular market analysis to ensure the organization's offerings are competitive.
Establish key HR metrics and regularly report on HR analytics to senior leadership and to the P&C team.
Oversee the development and implementation of training programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
Lead and develop the HR team, providing guidance and mentorship.
Formulate, meticulously implement, consistently monitor, periodically review, and systematically evaluate HR plans, L&D strategies, general policies, and plans to ensure they are in alignment with evolving business needs and objectives.
Champion the conception and implementation of robust equal employment opportunity programs, designed to foster diversity and inclusivity while ensuring legal compliance.
Work with the GMs & Directors in the business to deeply understand employee roles and responsibilities, team health, and partner with them to help their staff grow and develop.
Analyzing HR data to identify trends and issues, and developing solutions to address them.
Facilitating organizational change initiatives by communicating and implementing changes to HR policies and practices.
Build leadership capability from senior level and below and proactively coach people managers on people issues.
Protect the business by regularly assessing policies and Australian & NZ employment law.
Act as the expert on employee relations issues and ensure business leaders are equipped to operate effectively within Fair Work and other industrial instrument legislations.
Revise our tech stack annually to ensure optimal tools are in place to support the business.
Requirements and skills
8-10 years P&C / HR experience with experience as an HR Director ideally within a scale-up/mid-sized tech environment.
Deep understanding of labor regulations, employment laws, and compliance requirements to ensure business practices are ethical and legal.
Extensive employee relations experience across Australia (& NZ as a bonus) and ability to proactively mitigate people risk.
Experience managing a team of 3 or more people.
Strong experience in influencing & negotiating skills, at all levels
Experience designing and executing impactful people initiatives that align with company strategy and building pragmatic and engaging practices and processes.
Ability to demonstrate agility and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
Experience in supporting an organization through growth.
Confident communicator, who understands how best to adapt their approach to the relevant audience
Team player - Maintains a positive problem-solving attitude. Builds strong relationships within and beyond the team and is comfortable with a fast-paced working environment
Resource, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
Strong experience in liaising and consulting with senior & and C-Suite level stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships internally and externally
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve agreed outcomes promptly
Ability to utilise data and reporting to enable data-driven insights
