We’re excited to be looking for a People and Culture Manager who can help support and grow our management team’s capabilities, providing sound advice based on up-to-date legislation and best practices, deliver our strategy through our team of legends, and craft epic development and engagement activities to grow the capability and engagement of our hard-working teams.
Position Overview:
Based in Canberra, the aim of this role is to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the business strategy, aligning people management policies and practices to assist in successful strategy delivery. This is a leadership position offering an engaging mix of talent aquisition, strategy and Culture in a complex and exciting environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Carry out recruitment managing job advertisments, reviewing CV’s, conducting pre-screen phone interviews and running robust and structured interviews to effectively and fairly evaluate candidates
- Support hiring managers in conducting of interviews providing advice to ensure interview processes are fair, transparent and robust and ensure the placement of high quality candidates into the business
- Oversee effective onboarding and induction processes for new hires ensuring all documentation is provided prior to joining, candidates are kept up to date throughout the onboarding process and are provided with all necessary training and equipment on commencement of their role
- Coordinate performance reviews in collaboration with department managers providing performance management tools and best practice advice to ensure managers are equipped to develop their teams effectively, deliver valuable feedback and deliver reviews on time.
- Provide ongoing coaching support to develop capable and highly skilled leaders across the business
- Develop and implement development plans in consultation with department managers to ensure continuous skill development and engagement
- Support departmental managers in correcting poor performance, striving for a successful outcome
- Support talent pipeline activity to ensure structured career progression is available to high performing team members and tacit knowledge is retained within the business
- Carry out effective off boarding, including exit interviews to reduce regrettable turnover, return of company property and updating of records
- Maintains up-to-date policies and procedures that reflect changing legislation and workplace trends to ensure Capital remains an employer of choice in Canberra
You will Bring
- Previous experience in a similar role with a related qualification preferred
- Up-to-date understanding of employment legislation, particularly in relation to Modern Awards and Fair Work
- Demonstrated experience in providing operational, and strategic HR advice to people leaders
- A proactive approach, looking for opportunities for continous improvement in our people leading capabilities
- You’ll take initiative and demonstrate sound decision making using your experience and an analytical approach
- High level of interpersonal skills, you’ll build relationships based on trust, empathy and sensitivity
- Experience using an HRIS would be beneficial
