Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. This is achieved through a partnership of over 10,000 committed volunteers and their member centres in communities across the nation.

ROLE

The People & Culture Business Partner supports the objectives of the People and Culture team to provide Business Partnering support to key client groups in a generalist Human Resources capacity. The role has four key result areas of accountability: people and culture operations, recruitment support and coordination, workplace health and safety, people and culture coordination back-up (including payroll support).

RESPONSIBILITIES

People & Culture Operations

  • Manage all first line HR queries and employment relations cases, within key client groups, including policy and process queries.
  • Administer contracts and change letters for key client groups, in facilitating the maintenance of current and accurate personnel records.
  • Provide operational support on human resources systems and processes to your client groups.
  • Attend regular meetings with key client group Executive and Senior Leaders.
  • Provide coaching and support to client group employees and leaders.
  • Assist in the production of the monthly CEO & ELT reports.
  • Support in the development, review and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Maintain HR-related records and documentation via Employment Hero (HRIS) and Sharepoint (O365).
  • Support in the effective management of the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management and exit.
  • Stay abreast of policy updates, workforce trends and changes in workplace legislation.
  • Support and/or lead specific people and culture projects as required, such as support Lifeline Australia’s Reconciliation Action Plan, and Lifeline Australia’s internal learning and development uplift.
  • Participate in and support People and Culture team initiatives.
  • Promote and model best practice adherence to organisational values and policies.

Recruitment Support and Coordination

  • Provide end-to-end recruitment services and support to all client groups at Lifeline Australia, as required.
  • Process pre-employment screening as required for recruitment services.
  • Administer employment contracts for new onboards and ensure details are updated in HRIS, as well as work with client groups to ensure job descriptions are up-to-date and accurate for all recruitment processes.
  • Advertise all roles on Lifeline Australia careers page and regularly communicate opportunities to all staff internally.
  • Support managers to submit recruitment requisition approvals via internal processes/systems.
  • Work with Lifeline Australia’s Procurement function to manage the preferred supplier agency panel for recruitment.
  • Manage and oversee improvements and developments to the end-to-end recruitment process, including onboarding and induction.
  • Support with the development and maintenance of a Lifeline Australia Employee Value Proposition.

Workplace Health and Safety

  • Support the Head of People and Culture, as required, at the WHS Committee meetings.
  • Assist in the management of WHS Committee meeting agenda and minutes.
  • Support in the management of all workers’ compensation cases, nationally.
  • Project management WHS programs of work in consultation with the WHS Committee, the Head of People and Culture, and any relevant external consultants.
  • Assist in the management of the WHS Audit action plan and support with the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support with the design, development and implementation of a well-being framework for Lifeline Australia in consultation with the workforce and the People and Culture team.

People and Culture coordination back-up (including payroll support)

  • Provide payroll backup support to the People, Culture and Payroll Coordinator during periods of leave or absence. This includes knowledge and understanding of all payroll processes and engagement with Payroll provider and Finance team.
  • Provide support and back-up to the People and Culture team for Phillip Street Office management, as required.
  • Any other tasks and/or duties as reasonably directed by the Head of People and Culture and/or the Executive Director – People and Corporate Services.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • 2-3 years HR generalist experience, preferably in a Business Partnering role, in non-profit and commercial settings.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Business.
  • Strong generalist HR experience, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement and influence, and developing people capability in a service delivery environment.
  • Knowledge of contemporary Australian workplace legislation and trends, and experience in leading employee relations matters.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation across all States and Territories.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Fair Work Australia Modern Award interpretations.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking capabilities, with an eye for detail.
  • Excellent all-round organisational and time management capabilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
