The Mareeba Hospital Pharmacy department provides clinical pharmacy services to Mareeba Hospital, Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, Dimbulah Primary Health Centre and the Chillagoe Primary Health Centre. Current service delivery focuses on the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to our patients; an extensive imprest service; and an extensive educational program to our stakeholders.Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service are the public health provider for around 250 000 people in the region. About you:
In your new role you will…
- Demonstrate knowledge, expertise and skill in Hospital, Offender Health, and Community based services. This includes an understanding of all forms of pharmaceutical care according to the principles of evidence-based practice, as well as knowledge of acts, regulations and standards.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills including consultation, negotiation and the ability to appropriately address conflict. This includes consultation and liaison with consumers, key stakeholders, health professionals, clients and community members.
- Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with, provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team and to implement the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council (APAC) guidelines in a team environment, so as to provide quality services, support research activity and promote a model of best practice for the benefit of patients and staff.
- Demonstrate ability to supervise and manage staff in line with quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will deliver clinical pharmacy services to patients within Mareeba Hospital and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre as a member of a multidisciplinary team to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health. This position may be required to be rostered to other Health facilities within the Hospital and Health Service when required.
About your role:
- As experience builds, apply increasingly independent clinical judgement to more complex clinical decision making under the clinical practice supervision or professional guidance of a more senior clinician.
- Develop clinical practice knowledge and expertise through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
- Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required to ensure continuum of care.
- Provide clinical education pertaining to routine tasks for interns, students and less experienced staff with the support of senior clinical staff.
- Provide clinical practice and operational supervision to work experience students, or those involved in observational clinical placements.
