Philanthropic Grants ManagerJob Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Philanthropic Grants and working within a highly experienced and collaborative Fundraising & Philanthropy Team, the Philanthropic Grants Manager will support the WEHI’s philanthropic objectives. Key to the role is building impactful relationships with representatives of grant making organisations and fundraising colleagues, scientists and professional service teams. The incumbent would enjoy taking a lead on preparing major funding applications, management of existing clients and would work independently, and as part of a creative and supportive team.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Degree qualified or an equivalent alternate combination of knowledge, training and/or experience.
Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Raiser’s Edge (or at least another CRM platform).
Strong experience in writing grant applications.
A commitment to the values and behaviors at WEHI.
Proven self-starter with significant experience in the success in trusts and foundations grant submissions and knowledge of the Australian and international philanthropic landscape with an excellent understanding of the key success factors required for applications.
Highly developed planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, work within time frames and meet deadlines.
Advanced written communication skills, including the ability to express material with clarity, validity and precision, with persuasion, and in a manner that appeals to your audience.
Ability to interpret, dissect and analyse complex written material such as scientific and health information, grant guidelines and application forms.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
Degree qualified in health, science or medical science or an equivalent alternate combination of knowledge, training and/or experience.
Personal Qualities:
Self-motivated and proactive, entrepreneurial, calculated risk taker, creative, and with excellent attention to detail.
Strong team player – highly collaborative, responsible and accountable, flexible with ability to compromise, yet also able to cooperate with conviction, approachable with an absolute commitment to customer service.
Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate respectfully and sensitively with a broad range of stakeholders, including major donors, board members and senior staff.
Terms of Appointment
This position is an ongoing role in a full-time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 8 ($110,249.00 – $119,330 AUD ). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
