Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and skilled PHO/Registrar to join our General Surgery team. As a PHO/Registrar in General Surgery, you will play a key role in coordinating and managing patient care under the supervision of a treating specialist. Additionally, you will provide assistance and guidance in the professional development of junior staff, medical students, and non-medical staff, while continuing your own professional development to maximize the expertise offered to patients.
The Hospital is a 143 bed secondary teaching hospital co-located with a 126 bed residential aged care facility, a community health center and a 60 bed private hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily ward rounds to oversee all patients in care and make appropriate decisions regarding ongoing patient care.
- Ensure decisions regarding patient care are appropriate and plan ongoing specialist care in consultation with the treating specialist.
- Ensure decisions relating to patient care are followed through, including delegating the provision of care through effective communication.
- Maintain comprehensive and concise documentation of all observations, opinions, diagnoses, other data, and procedures undertaken.
- Provide formal and informal ongoing on-the-job training and guidance to junior medical staff and students.
