Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Allied Health Team in an aged care setting in Penrith. The successful candidate will manage the physical well-being of up to 130 aged-care residents, focus on fall prevention, conduct comprehensive assessments, and participate in manual handling training. This role involves close collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care and optimal health outcomes for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Falls Prevention: Develop and implement effective fall prevention programs to reduce the risk of falls and related injuries among residents.
- Assessments: Conduct thorough physical evaluations to identify residents' needs, develop personalized care/rehabilitation plans, and monitor progress.
- Manual Handling: Teach staff manual handling tasks safely and efficiently, ensuring the comfort and safety of residents.
- Rehabilitation: Provide individualized rehabilitation programs to improve residents' mobility, strength, and overall physical function.
- Collaborative Care: Engage in multidisciplinary meetings with the allied health team, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to discuss and coordinate residents' care plans / fall prevention plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Education: Educate residents, families, and staff on best practices for maintaining physical health and preventing injuries.
- Support: Offer emotional and psychological support to residents, helping them to maintain a positive outlook on their health and well-being.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a physiotherapy role, preferably within an aged care or geriatric setting.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and treatment skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
