Flipper Academy is a business that offers group water-based therapy, in a supportive environment, with a core focus on learning to swim for both children with a disability or children that want to achieve their specific goals. Flipper Academy programs are Physiotherapy led and tailored to individuals with a variety of needs that have water therapy and learn to swim goals. In addition, our Director at Flipper works with leading physicians at the Women's and Children's Hospital, which is well renowned for its unique and high quality health approach within our state. At Flipper we assist our children achieve their goals , and develop their needs through our programs.
These goals include:
- Water safety and drowning prevention
- Development of gross motor skills
- Swimming strokes
- Development of fine motor skills
- Our group-based approach also helps children in our program, achieve other goals such as social skills and communication
Given the growth in our business, we are seeking a Physiotherapist to join our team to continue to provide these vital services to our clients. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate these essential skills required for the role:
- 1-2 years of experience is preferred, however we encourage new graduates to apply.
- Experience working with children with a disability of any age group and paediatrics
- Current Physiotherapist registered with AHPRA.
- Current working with children check
- Current disability workers check
- Strong communication skills with clients to facilitate successful outcomes and achievement of their goals.
- Demonstrated ability of successfully being able to interact with children across varying degrees of communication and understanding.
- Passion for working with children and helping them achieve their goals
- Working rights within Australia.
Desirable but not essential skills include the following:
- Experience in providing hydrotherapy services
- Learn to swim experience.
- Undertaken APA Level 1 hydrotherapy course
- Undertaken Autism swim course
- Experience in neurodevelopmental treatment and assessment
- Experience working within the NDIS framework and understanding functional goal setting within the NDIS
