Ciao! We are looking for a Pizza Chef / Cook to join our team and prepare delicious traditional Italian meals for our customers.
Toscano Bar & Kitchen is cocktail wine bar/ restaurant that can accommodate up to 50 people. Our customers love our menu, and we’d like to keep the good quality. Toscano is a family-owned business, working with us will make you feel like you are part of the family and will be treated as such.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as with others staff members.
Chef/Cook responsibilities include studying current recipes, modify menus and preparing quality and well-presented dishes, including canapes menu for our functions bookings. You should be able to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner, and a different meal special is available for our customer weekly. Also, you should be familiar with sanitation regulations and organize weekly and monthly cleaning and perform full cleaning of the kitchen during and after each work shift.

Responsibilities
Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales
Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
Cook food in a timely manner
Delegate tasks to kitchen staff
Inform wait staff about daily specials
Ensure appealing plate presentation
Supervise Cooks/ Kitchen hand and assist as needed
Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
Monitor food stock and place orders, making sure that supplies are not missing
Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
Keep the kitchen, equipment and utensils clean during and after each work shift
Make sure that the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning are performed and keep the logs up to date.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
Requirements
Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook / Pizza Chef
Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. electric pizza oven and dough mixer)
Knowledge of culinary, pizza baking , pizza and dough making techniques. ( Training for traditional Neapolitan dough making provided)
Leadership skills
Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
Organization and time management abilities
Familiarity with sanitation regulations
Culinary school diploma preferred but not essential
We offer a $70k to $75k + Superannuation, full time contract with holidays and sick leaves paid.
38 to 42 hours p.w to be covered with two days off.
Time off can be organized with advanced notice.
