Planning Officer/Planning Support Officer (Ref: 1214)
About the position:
The City has a unique and exciting opportunity available for a motivated individual to join our town planning team. Whilst the primary position is that of Planning Officer, the City encourages applications from qualified and experienced planners as well as from candidates who are interested in commencing or progressing their career in the planning field.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity that will see the successful candidate support the assessment and processing of development applications as well as provide high level customer support for enquiries relating to zoning, subdivision and development/use of land.
Key accountabilities:
The focus of the position will be shaped depending on the level of skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. As such:

- Unqualified candidates interested in commencing or progressing a career in planning will be responsible for supporting the team by delivering high level customer service to internal and external customers, undertaking administrative tasks and undertaking the assessment of applications for simple development types.

Position requirements:
Qualified planners will hold a degree in Town Planning (or related field) with relevant experience, or a lesser qualification with significant experience.
All candidates must be able to demonstrate comprehensive customer service skills as well as comprehensive computer literacy and writing reporting skills, with the ability to research, interpret and provide advice on legislation.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
The remuneration for this position will be dependent on the knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate, as it relates to the final composition of the position.
The Planning Officer position has a salary starting from $93,420 per annum or $47.2773 per hour, however a lesser salary may be offered should applicants not yet possess the seniority and experience required for this position, or if the position is offered in an alternate format.
