Boomaroo Nurseries’ is a world class vegetable seedling producer, supplying over 300 million seedlings and 1.5 million garden and indoor plants to growers and nurseries across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, and South Australia.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the growing team as a full-time Plant Health Worker. As a vital member of our team, you will play a crucial role in overall plant maintenance as directed by our Head Grower.
Some of these include:
- Continuous monitoring of Plant Health to ensure the nursery is free of disease, grubs, pests and other threats, and reporting regular updates to Growers.
- Execute plant maintenance routines, including watering, pruning, and monitoring for signs of pests or diseases.
- Switch on Priva system for irrigation, under strict instruction from the Growers.
- Assure that proper signage is posted in areas where pesticides have been applied.
- Involvement in preventative programs, plus reactive solutions to any pest or disease issues as they arise.
- Apply insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides according to work orders assigned by Growers.
- Report any and all damages to Production Manager.
- Other General Nursery Hand duties.
About you:
- Qualifications in horticulture OR previous horticulture or farm experience will be looked upon favourably.
- Experience in watering, fertilising and application of insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides.
- Have or willing to obtain a forklift license and chemical application certificate.
- Willingness and ability to do physical work outdoors.
This is a permanent full time position and you will need to be available for a Tuesday - Saturday working week.
