ROLE SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the role is to provide testing, support, and guidance to internal and external key stakeholders across the Flemings Group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

An important role within our Fleming’s Nurseries QLD production nursery, the role is predominately field based, and solutions orientated. 

Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Overseeing plant nutrition, in the nursery and test orchards.
  • Identifying and developing solutions for plant related health issues.
  • Developing prevention strategies and ongoing maintenance for plant pests and disease.
  • Media testing.
  • Development and implementation of spray programs.
  • Testing, developing, and implementing irrigation programs.
  • Overseeing compliance with accreditation schemes.
  • Undertaking and reporting on trials. 
  • Purchasing chemicals, fertilizers, and associated products.
  • Working closely with relevant team members and senior management to achieve best practice for pest and disease management.
  • Planning and prioritising timeframes with the flexibility to account for weather and adverse conditions.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in multiple crops.
  • Sound knowledge of plant nutrition.
  • Ability to identify pest and disease symptoms.
  • Knowledge of chemicals, fertilizers, green crops and biological products is essential.
  • Strong organisational skills as record keeping will be a critical component of this role.
  • Clear and concise communication and the ability to follow up.
  • Experience with Fleming's product range would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of the team.
