Job description
Mountford Berries Labour Hire is looking for up to 30 workers for Plant Husbandry, and Farm Hand work in Ouse, Tasmania. Harvesting starts in April and continues until June.
Key Responsibilities:
• Cut, sort and pack strawberry plants into boxes.
• General farm duties and Plant Husbandry in field
• Conduct quality control checks at various stages of the process to ensure that only the highest quality plants make it to the consumer.
• Follow safety procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate safety gear and obeying policies.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to ensure that everyone is working together efficiently and effectively.
• Assist other employees when necessary to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform basic recording tasks, such as keeping track of the number of plants packed or the amount of time spent working, and housekeeping tasks as assigned to keep the work area clean and organised.
Key Attributes and Experience:
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• To be available to work up to six days a week which includes weekends.
• To be flexible and available to start work from 6:00 am to various finishing times.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
• No prior experience in berry harvesting is required.

Employment is on a part-time, fixed term basis and paid under the Horticultural Award 2020 Level 1 ($22.61). Additional allowances for higher duties and skills may also be paid. Bonuses may also be paid for higher productivity.
Work will commence from the 2nd of April. All induction and training will be provided prior to you commencing work. Potential to upskill to Supervisor or Field Assistant roles with training provided (Limited).
